Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 September 2026
This policy explains what information The Aisle Republic ("we", "us") collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, the couple planning app, the Vendor Studio, and the public wedding websites and directory we host.
Contents
1. Who is responsible
The Aisle Republic is the data controller for the information described here and is based in Ghana. For privacy questions, contact hello@theaislerepublic.com.
Note: when a couple builds a guest list or wedding website, the couple decides how their guests' information is used. For that information the couple is the controller and we act as a processor on the couple's behalf.
2. Information we collect
You give us
- Account: name, email address, password (stored hashed), and whether you are a couple or a vendor. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from them.
- Profile: optional phone number, and for vendors, business name, category, description, location, contact details, packages and pricing, photos and logo, availability, and payout details you enter for display on invoices.
- Wedding planning: partner names, wedding date and venue, budget figures and expenses, tasks, timeline, seating tables, and the guests and households you add (names, and optionally email, address, meal and dietary notes, RSVP status).
- Wedding website: the content you publish (story, schedule, travel and registry information, FAQs, photos) and any site password you set.
- Messages and bookings: enquiries, quotes, contract terms, electronic signatures, invoices, reviews, and the messages exchanged between couples and vendors.
- Payment records: for an invoice paid online, the amount, currency, processor transaction reference and timestamp — not your card or mobile-money number, which the processor holds.
- RSVPs: if you are a wedding guest, the responses, meal choices and notes you submit on a couple's wedding website.
- Support: anything you send us by email.
Collected automatically
- Usage and device data: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed and actions taken, and timestamps, collected by our hosting and infrastructure providers as part of delivering and securing the Service.
- Local storage: small amounts of data kept in your browser to keep you signed in and remember interface preferences (see "Cookies and local storage").
3. How we use it
- Provide and operate the Service: your account, the planning tools, the Vendor Studio, the directory, and the wedding websites and RSVP flow.
- Connect couples and vendors: show published listings, deliver enquiries, quotes, contracts and invoices between the parties.
- Review vendor listings before they are published, and act on complaints or policy breaches.
- Communicate with you: service messages such as sign-in confirmations, password resets, enquiry and booking notifications, and important changes to the Service. We will not send marketing email without a lawful basis and, where required, your consent.
- Keep the Service secure: prevent, detect and investigate fraud, abuse and security incidents.
- Improve the Service: understand which features are used and diagnose problems, using aggregated or minimised data where practical.
- Comply with law and enforce our Terms.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising profiling.
4. Our legal basis
Depending on the applicable law, we rely on: performance of our contract with you (to provide the Service you signed up for); your consent (for example, optional communications, or where a couple provides guest details); our legitimate interests (to secure, support and improve the Service, and to connect couples and vendors); and compliance with legal obligations. Where we rely on consent you may withdraw it at any time.
5. Guest and third-party information
Couples add information about other people — partners, family, collaborators and wedding guests. If you provide someone else's details, you are responsible for having a lawful basis to do so and for telling them, in general terms, that their information is held in a wedding-planning tool. Guests can ask the couple, or us, to access, correct or delete their information; we will forward such requests to the relevant couple where appropriate. Guest information is only ever visible to that couple and their invited collaborators, and to the guest themselves through the RSVP flow.
7. Where it is stored
Our infrastructure providers may store and process data on servers located outside Ghana, including in other regions. Where information is transferred internationally, we rely on the safeguards offered by those providers (such as contractual protections). Uploaded images are stored in public-read buckets so that wedding websites and vendor listings load quickly; do not upload images you consider confidential.
9. How long we keep it
We keep account and planning information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete the account and the data attached to it (weddings, listings, guests, messages, bookings and related records), except where we must retain limited information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes or enforce our agreements. Backups and provider logs are cycled out on a rolling basis. During the beta, we may also reset data as part of testing.
10. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to: access the information we hold about you; correct inaccurate information; delete your information; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent; and receive a copy of information you provided in a portable format.
- You can view and update most of your information directly in the Service.
- You can delete your account and its data from Settings → Delete account.
- For any other request, email hello@theaislerepublic.com. We may need to verify your identity before we act.
11. Security
We use access controls (row-level security in our database), encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and infrastructure from established providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach that affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authority as required by law.
12. Children
The Service is for adults (18+). It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect their information, other than a child's name where a couple chooses to include them on a guest list. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If a change is material we will take reasonable steps to notify you, for example by email or an in-product notice. The "last updated" date shows the current version.
14. Contact and complaints
Contact us about privacy at hello@theaislerepublic.com. If you are in Ghana and are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission of Ghana (dataprotection.org.gh).
